
Dr. Kiran Thakur: Adjunct Faculty
He has worked as a professional journalist for over three decades as a sub-editor in a Pune daily (1969-70), and as correspondent of United News of India (1971-87), The Indian Post (1987-90) and (The Observer of Business and Politics).
He shifted to academics in year 2001 to be Professor and Head, Department of Communication and Journalism, University of Pune. He has studied web editions of Indian Newspapers for his doctoral thesis and later as a project funded by the University Grants Commission. After retirement in year 2007, he joined the Mudra Institute of Communications Research, Ahmadabad, and Gujarat, in Western India, where he completed three projects in a year. These related to viewer ship of a religious TV channel, Internet for election campaigns, and Use of features of mobile handsets.
